Lawn mower engine wont turn over?
I have a Kohler Command CV14 that my son wants to use on a gokart problem is the service manual doesn’t really help with the wiring that comes off then engine (or I just dont understand it). we have everything rebuilt and am wondering how to get the wiring hooked to the starter so that it will crank?? theres a red wire coming from the intake a white one for the kill switch i believe, a black one that comes off the shroud and a ground.. what else is there that i should need.. also this came off a simplicity mower was the solenoid(if there is one) in the mower or on the engine… thanks for any help you can give…
Most lawnmowers use a remote solenoid located near the battery, to control the power to the starter. The key switch sends the 12 v signal to the solenoid which then energizes the starter. There should be a single wire which comes out of the engine housing (shroud) which when grounded kills the engine, when ungrounded allows the magneto to fire the spark plug.
The complicated part is all the safety kill switches they put on mowers – makes it hard to figure out which 2 wires you actually need!
