Do I need to have the leaking intake manifold gasket replaced? Or can I just keep topping off the coolant?
1998 Chevy Van 350 engine. Mechanic says common problem for intake manifold gasket to fail and that needs to replaced or can blow out and leave you stranded. Or that chronic loss of coolant can create problems.
One of the biggest risks you are taking by not repairing is the possibility of not only coolant leaking externally is it may also be going into the crankcase(engine oil). Coolant will contaminate the engine oil and will ruin internal engine bearings and the parts that run on them. GET IT FIXED!
